CORNickel

CORNickel is the robot which is developed by the Technical University of Dresden. (Germany)

Technology

The robot is based on the drive shaft of the "Tamiya Super Clod Buster" but gets a different chassis. Therefore we constructed a steel frame which carries the columns (aluminium) for the interior like electronics and stuff. The whole tractor like robot is modeled on the the "Rigi-Trac" (www.rigitrac.ch).

That means for example, we have a divided robot and between the two parts is a joint, which has to suspend allthe bumps of the terrain because we do not use any springs or dampers. So front and rear of the vehicle could be distorted to one another.

Important data:

- 4WD

- 2 independent steering shafts

- 2 x DC-motors (7,2 V)

- 5 Controllers (2 x Atmega16, 3 x Atmega128) communicating via an internal bus

- using IR- and US-sensors

- encoders in the wheels

- compass (maybe)
